Tucked inside West Quay shopping centre, this is a far nicer stop than that suggests — roomy enough to get a buggy through, with high chairs, a kids' menu and a calm, chilled-music atmosphere that takes the edge off a long shopping trip. The team are warm and quick to notice you, and food generally arrives hot and fast, which matters when someone's patience has run out. Pasta comes properly al dente, the penne giardiniera has a following, and the pizzas, sea bass and breakfasts all get singled out; the coffee and hot chocolate are worth ordering too. It fills up at busy times, so book if you're going at lunch. One early-morning visit turned up lukewarm food, so it isn't flawless — but families come back weekly for a reason.
