Handy if you're heading down into Cornwall — it sits just off the A38 with plenty of free parking, so you can pull in, unclip everyone and be eating within minutes. The look is retro American diner with a bit of art nouveau thrown in, which children tend to find quite exciting, and there's a shelf of kids' books and soft toys to keep small hands busy while you wait. Food arrives quickly and portions are generous: the breakfasts get particular praise, especially the sourdough toast and the veggie option, and among the burgers the Dirty Brisket and the Bacon & Cheese come up again and again. Staff are consistently patient and welcoming, even on a bank holiday rush. Kids get a lollipop on the way out. It can get busy at peak times, and dogs are welcome inside too.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
