Down a small doorway and a flight of stairs, this Greek-Turkish basement room is far bigger than it looks — a proper old-school taverna running since the 80s, with murals of Greek gods, family photos on the walls and bouzouki music. It's a good fit for a family meal: high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan dishes, generous portions, and staff who make a fuss of birthdays without being asked. The mezze is the thing to order — plate after plate of it — and the moussaka and gyros get named again and again. Two honest notes: the plate smashing and dancing kick off around 9.15pm, which is lively but late for small children, so come early; and the loos have seen better days. It's a 5–10 minute walk from Oxford Road station. Booking is wise.
