Right on Black Rock beach at Widemouth Bay, this is the kind of stop that works whether you've got a toddler in a pram or a teenager who eats everything. There's plenty of room inside and out, so pushchairs aren't a problem, and the toilets next door are big, clean and properly equipped for changing. Breakfast runs until 11.30 and the full English gets a lot of love, as do the cheesy chips, the huge ice creams and the fresh pizzas served late afternoon in summer. They're good with allergies too — one family got a cheeseless pizza made without fuss. Free tap water arrives in pint glasses. It's cheap for a beach view, but it gets very busy on sunny days and food can be slow, so order early if anyone's already hungry.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
