Bright, airy and a lot more welcoming than the smokers-by-the-door first impression suggests, this is a handy stop between Kelvingrove and the subway. Inside there's loads of seating, good décor and staff who tend to be friendly and accommodating — they'll happily put a screen on for you. Buggies get in easily, high chairs and a kids' menu are sorted, there's outdoor seating and free parking. The pizza and crispy onion rings get the most praise, and there are lunchtime specials alongside a proper ale selection. Two honest warnings: the live band between roughly 4–6pm on a Saturday is genuinely too loud for conversation, and tables get reserved from early evening, so book if you want to settle in. Drinks aren't cheap either — over £9 for a pint and a coke.
