This is a training restaurant, and knowing that changes how you read it — students cook and serve, so plates arrive with real care but service can run at its own pace, which suits a table with children better than it sounds. Three courses at lunch come in at genuinely good value, and the food punches well above the price: hot, properly presented, big on flavour rather than volume. Portions are modest, so a hungry seven-year-old may want pudding. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and room to get a pram in. The room stays quiet and uncrowded at lunch, though the front door onto the street lets some noise in. One parent came away saying it "reminded us what good eating is without paying a fortune". Worth booking, and worth going at lunch rather than in the evening.
