Tucked into the old chapel at Cardiff Royal Infirmary, this is a café and small library in one, and the restoration is genuinely lovely — original chapel features left intact with just enough modern comfort. It's tiny, so a buggy takes a bit of manoeuvring at busy moments, but there's buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, and the quiet, bookish calm is a rare thing with children in tow. The coffee gets serious praise, the hot chocolate is thick and proper, and the tea is strong; blueberry muffins and cakes go quickly. Staff are warm and accommodating, which matters if you're here around an appointment next door. Takeaway is easy if the room feels too small that day. Good value, and one visitor calls it "a little gem".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
