A big, bright split-level room at the bottom of City Road, with plenty of space to park a pram and free parking outside — handy when you're arriving with the whole crew. Breakfast is the sweet spot: two full English breakfasts with unlimited refills of decent coffee for under £7 total, and the ground-floor toilets (including baby-change-friendly disabled facilities) are unusually easy to find for a Wetherspoon, so you're not hauling anyone up a staircase mid-meal. High chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating are all here, and under-18s are welcome until 9pm. Be warned: service is the weak spot — waits of 20–30 minutes are normal and can stretch longer at busy breakfast times, and staff can be brisk rather than warm. Regulars come for the real ales and the price, not the polish.
