Handy for a pre-cinema dinner if you're heading to the Kinema in the Woods, and roomy enough at the outdoor tables — strung with fairy lights — that a pram isn't a problem. Inside is cosy and prettily done, so it's a warmer, calmer sort of evening than a chain. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, parking is free, and food comes fast: one family had theirs inside five minutes of ordering, which matters when a toddler's patience is running out. The lasagne and garlic bread get raved about, the moussaka arrives generous enough to share, and gluten-free and vegan needs are handled without fuss. Around £68 fed four including a child and drinks. The young team are cheerful and quick, and the loos are kept spotless. Weekends fill up, so book.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
