Restaurant · Bristol
Tucked away in Bristol and easy to miss, this is a small Ethiopian and Eritrean place where the decor is plain café-simple and the food does all the work. The owners walk you through the menu, which matters if your children have never eaten injera before — the big shared flatbread turns dinner into something hands-on, and most children take to tearing off pieces themselves. The Zara Special and the chef's platter come piled high; one group reckoned a single plate fed four. Vegan and vegetarian options are as generous as the meat, so mixed eaters are sorted, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and free parking. It's spicy in places, so ask. Small room, though — book ahead for a table of more than two or three.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
