Windmill Coffee Shop
Cosy garden-centre café with free parking, all-morning breakfasts and cracking cakes — small inside, and the potholed driveway needs care.

Restaurant · Huddersfield
A working farm that turns out to serve proper food — the fry-ups and poached eggs arrive generous and quickly, with scrambled egg and halloumi that regulars come back for, and a "bucket of a mug" if you order a large coffee. There's a dedicated outdoor play area, which buys grown-ups a genuinely relaxed half hour, and the place is spacious enough that prams and high chairs aren't a problem. Parking is free and plentiful. Staff are quick and unfussy — seated and ordered inside five minutes on a busy morning. Save room for ice cream from the parlour: malted milk, rum and raisin, even basil. Parmesan loaded tots and the peanut butter burger have their devotees. It gets very busy, so book if you can, and toilets are kept clean.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
