Set on the Murton Park site just outside York, this is the kind of café that makes a day out with children genuinely easy — free, easy parking, buggy access, and a seating area indoors and out that's roomy enough that you're not apologising to the next table. Food comes out fast and hot, well presented, and more filling than it looks; the sausage rolls (ask for them warmed) and the Coca-Cola ham get particular praise, and the coffee and cake are worth the stop on their own. Staff stay attentive even when a coach party of 25 walks in, and dietary needs are handled without fuss. It's a little pricey for café food, but there's a kids' menu, high chairs, and sheep and old trains to see afterwards — one family called it "a lovely little surprise".
