Tucked away down a little alley off the High Street, this is the kind of place you'd walk past for years without knowing — which is part of the charm once you find it. The window seats overlook the marketplace, there's an outdoor area for when the pram won't fit neatly indoors, and the glazed cabinet of cakes does a lot of work when a child needs distracting. Brunch is the real draw: enormous croque monsieur and madame, Turkish eggs, a chorizo hash off the specials board, plus proper vegan, veggie and gluten-free choices. The coffee gets rhapsodised about. Staff are warm and quick even when it's heaving. Worth knowing: Saturdays and bank holidays fill up fast and seats get scarce, and portions on the lighter dishes can be modest. One parent calls it "a lovely little find".
