The Elk's Head
A well-rated Hexham pub with outdoor seating and mid-range prices, making for an easy family meal out.

Cafés · Hexham
A proper village shop with a café attached, and it feels more like walking into someone's kitchen than a business — there's a log fire going in colder months and a little sun-trap area out the back for warmer days. Breakfasts are the draw: local meats, generous enough that the "small" arrives with toast and marmalade and defeats most people. The soup and cheese scones get particular devotion, and the cakes and brownies are all made in-house. High chairs, a kids' menu and free parking make the logistics easy, and the buggy gets in without a fight. Prices look a touch higher than a standard café at first glance, but portions and quality justify it. One thing to know: it shuts at 1pm on Sundays, so go early.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
