Pierre Kitchen & Bar | CAVERN QUARTER
Warm French bistro in the Cavern Quarter with a bargain two-course lunch, kids' menu, high chairs and vegan options.

Pub · Liverpool
Tucked just off Mathew Street, this is the calm alternative to the tourist bars around it — two rooms, the back one especially lovely with ox-blood leather seats and walls covered in Titanic and Beatles memorabilia, which buys you a good ten minutes of children pointing at things. It's a proper old pub rather than a family restaurant, but there's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating, and the staff are warm and chatty with everyone who walks in. Drinks are mostly reasonable, though some lagers run pricey for the area. Quiet on a weekday afternoon; livelier at weekends, when there's sometimes live singing. The loos have seen better days and the fireplace is decorative rather than real, but one visitor called it "a welcome retreat" — which is about right with a pram in tow.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
