Everything's made on site, and the hot lunches get the loudest praise: jacket potatoes with a proper spread of toppings, a green-leaf lasagne people come back for, generous portions, and cakes big enough to share. High chairs and a kids' menu are there when you need them, and the staff are patient and warm — one visitor arrived cold and damp and called it "such a comfort". Two honest notes: it's pricey for what it is (£7.50 for a cream tea), and lunchtime brings queues and slow table-clearing, so aim early or late.
