Tucked down a side street off Dorchester's main shopping run, this one is genuinely easy to walk past — but worth the hunt. It's roomy and level enough that a pram and a wheelchair were both got in without any fuss, which tells you plenty about how the team handle a busy family arriving at once. The menu is big, traditional and unfussy — build-your-own breakfast by the item, eggs benedict, lasagne that gets described as incredible, baked ham, gammon egg and chips — all clearly cooked fresh rather than pinged. Prices are reasonable and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and a few outdoor tables. Staff will happily swap things for dietary needs. Lunchtimes fill up: one visitor noted a run of "reserved" signs across the tables, so book if you're coming at midday.
