La Galleria
Calm, intimate Italian with huge portions, a kids' menu and high chairs — though the room echoes when it's busy.

Restaurant · Birmingham
Handy if you're mid-shop in the city centre and someone needs feeding quickly — it's central to everything, and families are usually greeted and seated fast, with drinks and food arriving at a pace that suits a fraying toddler. The menu's wide enough that fussy eaters and vegans both find something, and there's a proper kids' menu, high chairs and step-free access for a pram. The hot katsu chicken curry gets particular praise for real chilli heat rather than the sweeter original, and the hot honey firecracker chicken comes crisp outside and juicy within. Staff are attentive and happy to make suggestions. Two honest snags: the bench-style seating isn't the comfiest for a long sit, and at peak times the bar can lag — one visit saw a 25-minute wait for two cokes. Outdoor tables if you'd rather be out of the noise.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
