A steep little walk up from central Newport gets you to this long-standing family business, and the climb is worth it — one visitor called the views and cathedral nearby part of the charm. Inside it's traditional and comforting, with a pizza oven at the back turning out very thin, authentic crusts with a lovely bready edge. Portions are generous enough that children clear their plates, there's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and free parking, and food arrives at a reasonable pace even for a party of eight. The lasagne with its rich tomato sauce, the porchetta and the tiramisu all get praise. Two honest notes: tables are packed close under a low roof, so it can be hard to hear each other, and the pizzas can carry a bit of spice for smaller mouths. Booking ahead is sensible.
