Sitting beside the runway at Wellesbourne airfield, this no-frills community café has an ace up its sleeve for restless children: aircraft. The outdoor tables look straight onto the taxiway, and when planes trundle past the whole row of children waves — on Sundays the Vulcan is usually open too. Inside it's simple and unfussy, buggies get in easily, high chairs are there, and parking is free and easy. Breakfasts are the thing: big plates, crispy chips, sausage and egg baps, jacket potatoes with a side salad, coffee and lunch for a little over £8. Gluten-free needs have been handled without a problem. Food is cooked to order so it can take a while on busy mornings, and the décor is well-worn — but the staff, one parent notes, treat you "almost like a small family".
