Walkers coming off Mam Tor or heading up to Peveril Castle tend to fall into this Castleton cafe by accident and then keep coming back. The baguettes are the thing — huge, served warm, properly stuffed, with the turkey and gravy cob and the pulled pork both getting singled out again and again — and the hand-cut chips (especially chips in gravy) get near-devotional praise. Portions are generous and it's noticeably cheaper than the places around it, which matters when you're feeding a family. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, vegan options and outdoor seating, buggy access works, and parking sits directly opposite at £2.90 for two hours. It's small and gets very busy, so expect a squeeze at peak times; service is usually quick even then, though table clearing can lag. The cakes are hit and miss — the espresso walnut is the safe bet.
