Gorse
A warmly rated Cardiff restaurant with mid-range prices, easygoing enough for a relaxed family meal out.

Welsh Restaurant · Cardiff
Tucked into Pontcanna with free parking outside, this is a step up from the usual family lunch — French-leaning cooking, small sophisticated plates, and prices to match, so it suits a birthday or a treat more than a weekly outing. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and room to get a buggy in, and the staff are the kind who notice an occasion and quietly do something about it. Food comes beautifully presented without fuss: Tom's chips get talked about constantly, the scallops and the mushroom parfait draw raves, and the peanut butter parfait is worth saving room for. Sunday lunch at around £20 is genuinely good value and the room fills up, so book. Dogs are welcome too. Spotlessly clean throughout — one family noted even the toilets get proper attention.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
