Pub · Plymouth
A proper old-school local on the edge of the city centre, this is the sort of pub where everyone talks to everyone and the landlord and landlady make regulars feel like family. Practically speaking, it works for families at the right hours: a kids' menu, high chairs, an outdoor seating area for when children need to wriggle, and free parking. The Sunday roast draws real praise — a huge Yorkshire pudding on every plate, a separate side of cauliflower cheese and broccoli, and a gravy boat to top up. Drinks are cheap, with pints around £3.50 and a happy hour. Worth knowing: it's a drinking pub first, with sport on several screens, a pool table and live music, quiz nights and open mic, so evenings get lively — lunchtimes and the garden are the calmer bet. It's dog friendly too.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
