Amber Restaurant & Whisky Bar
Quiet, elegant Scottish dining below the whisky experience — kids' menu, high chairs, generous lamb stovies and puddings worth staying for.

Restaurant · Edinburgh
Perched at the top of the Royal Mile in a dark, candlelit, gothic sort of room, this is a proper occasion place rather than a casual lunch stop — but it does welcome children, with a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating if you'd rather be in the air. The older dining room is tight on space and dim, so a pram is a squeeze; the newer side is brighter and more open, and worth asking for when you book. The set lunch, around £37 for two courses, is the sensible way in — the à la carte climbs fast and even bread and water are extra. The chicken and the lamb wellington get the loudest praise, and the cheese board is generous. Staff are attentive and kind, though the bill can take a while to arrive.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
