Worth knowing before you climb. Once up, it's bright, roomy and beautifully kept, with the original Mackintosh chairs and airy layout giving you space to spread out. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, and the staff are warm — one family were sung happy birthday and given cake. The Scottish breakfast is generous (ask for both haggis and black pudding), the homemade soup and oatcakes are a reliable win, and the fruit scones with butter and jam are what people come back for.
