Beverley locals book this one for birthdays and Sunday treats, and it earns the occasion — but it also handles children better than its price tag suggests. The dining room and bar are smart without being stiff, with a garden and terrace that families drift onto in warmer months; one group happily spent two and a half hours out there on a Friday evening. Nothing is rushed, which cuts both ways: lovely for a long lunch, less ideal if you have a toddler with a short fuse. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and free parking. The halibut with its hazelnut crust and the sharing steak get particular praise, and the staff know their ingredients well enough to sort out vegetarian or fussy eaters on the spot. Be warned: it's genuinely expensive, and portions on the set menu can look small for the money.
