Coffee Shops · Newport, Gwent
Roomy is the first thing you notice — plenty of space between tables, so a pram isn't a problem and nobody has to shuffle chairs to let you past. The two owners run it warmly and will happily steer you to a good spot or cook something off-menu without fuss. Portions are huge and prices fair: a large baguette, crisps and a drink to take away comes in around £4, and there are healthy options, gluten-free paninis and vegan choices alongside a kids' menu. The afternoon tea is generous enough that people take leftovers home, with bottomless tea. It's genuinely popular, so parking can fill up and booking ahead is sensible at lunch. One quirk: only semi-skimmed milk, and the coffee arrives scaldingly hot.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
