Once you're in it's a comfortable, well-decorated room with civilised company and seats you don't mind lingering in, plus outdoor tables, high chairs and a kids' menu. Food is the draw: generous portions, hot plates, pork belly with excellent crackling, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings one parent rates the finest they've had in a pub, and a steak and chips that gets talked about across Suffolk. Staff are friendly and quick with mains and good about allergies, though puddings can be a wait. Two snags — drinks are pricey, and the loos are dated with a step up to them, awkward with a buggy.
