A Grade II listed coach house dating back to 1824, this Cheltenham pub does the classic thing well — open kitchen so children can watch the chefs work, high chairs, a kids' menu and level access if you're pushing a buggy in. The Sunday roasts are the draw: slow-cooked lamb that falls apart, roast pork with proper crackling, cauliflower cheese on the side. The Suffolk burger with smoked bacon and burger jam gets rave mentions, as does the hot sticky toffee pudding. Staff are generally patient and happy to work around unusual needs, including tube-fed children. Two honest notes: book ahead because Sundays fill fast, and on busy weekends food can be slow to arrive and the tables squeezed. Outdoor seating helps when it's loud inside.
