Tucked beside Whichford Pottery, this is the rare countryside café where a slow, sunny lunch with children actually works — masses of outdoor tables, shaded spots, and grass where you can chuck down a blanket and let little ones roll about while you finish your coffee. Buggy access is easy, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and parking is free. Much of the produce is grown on site, so expect properly good food: the super brunch, oyster mushroom brunch, generous vegetable stews, home-baked cakes and peanut butter cookies that regulars ask for by name. Vegan choices are plentiful and the flat whites are excellent. Two things to know — the toilets are compost ones, and it gets very busy at peak times, so go early. There's often a piano or live acoustic music drifting through.
