Tucked into a set of riding stables in Tilehurst, this cabin café is a lot roomier than it looks from the road — indoor and outdoor seating, so there's space to park a buggy without apologising to anyone. Off-road parking at the stables is free and, as regulars put it, "almost guaranteed", which takes the stress out of arriving. Breakfast is served all day, and the breakfast baps are what people come back for — the halloumi and mushroom one especially. Cakes are worth the detour too; the coconut and blueberry gets named again and again. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and the team are warm without fussing, the sort who'll happily sort out a birthday party. It's very dog-friendly, so expect a few damp spaniels post-walk.
