An hour's drive sounds like a lot for a BBQ joint, but families keep making the trip to this Nuneaton smokehouse and coming back for more. It's a small room, and a popular one, so book — turning up with a pram on spec on a Saturday night won't work, though the buggy access and free parking make the arrival easier than most. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, and there's outdoor seating when the room feels tight. Portions are enormous: the meat platters, beef short rib, lamb shoulder and the cowboy burger all get raved about, and one family needed a bigger table just to fit the platter for two. The owners are hands-on and genuinely warm with people. It isn't cheap, and service runs relaxed — order drinks, sauces and napkins in one go.
