About The Skillet

Tucked round a corner in Glasgow, this is a proper sit-down dinner that still works with a baby in tow — one family arrived with a six-month-old and found the team warm and unhurried, and there are high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking to take the faff out of getting there. Inside it's spotless, cosy and softly lit, with an upstairs room and outdoor seating when the weather plays fair. The food is the draw: rosemary roast potatoes people still talk about, chicken and daal, steak frites, fish and chips, and a Yorkshire rhubarb dessert that comes up again and again. The £12 lunch and the shared Sunday roast are genuinely good value, though cocktails and small plates push the bill up. It fills quickly and gets buzzy, so book ahead.
