Restaurants · Marlborough
A community pub in the middle of Marlborough — locals bought shares to save it during the pandemic — and it's kept the warmth without the stuffiness, which matters when you arrive with a pram and a hungry four-year-old. The dining room is simply done and roomy enough to park a buggy, and the staff are unflustered: one family had kids' fish and chips cooked off-menu without any fuss. Food is the reason to come. Beautifully done British cooking — scotch egg and potted smoked mackerel to start, steak, cod, a huge Yorkshire on Sunday, thick crunchy chips, bread with black treacle butter. Puddings run to earl grey bread and butter pudding and a Guinness fondant. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating and free parking. It's a small kitchen, so book ahead for Sunday lunch.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
