Tucked just off the beach in a tiny fishing hamlet, this is the kind of pub where you can sit out front on the green with sea air and a crab sandwich while the children run about, then move inside by the wood fire when it turns cold. Food is simple and very good — freshly picked crab stotties, hake curry, an exceptional rib eye — and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and vegan options. They brew their own beer on site. Two honest snags: it gets genuinely busy, so book well ahead for dinner and arrive early for lunch, and empty tables are usually reserved rather than free. The staff are pleasant and professional rather than gushing, food arrives quickly even at a rush, and prices are reasonable. Note they don't do chips.
