Restaurant · Wells
Sat over the river on the edge of Wells, this is a pub where the setting does a lot of the work — decking right above the water, wildlife to point at, and enough space inside and out that a pram isn't a problem. Free parking, high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options all help. Food gets real praise: burgers and chips, fish stew, generous Sunday plates, and the staff are unfailingly patient, including with allergies. Two honest caveats — it's a touch pricey for what arrives (mains can hit £27), and on busy weekends live music plays loud enough that you'll struggle to hear each other, with kitchen waits stretching. Go midweek or early, book ahead, and it's lovely. One parent calls a Sunday lunch here "just perfection".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
