About The Seven Oaks

Tucked between Chinatown and the Art Gallery, this is a proper old-fashioned Manchester boozer — worn in, unpretentious, and cheap in a way that's become rare (a pint of Becks around £3.70, spirits and mixer for about £3). There's seating on two floors plus a private room upstairs, so if the ground floor feels tight with a pram you can usually find space above. High chairs and a kids' menu are there, though this is drinks-led rather than a dinner-out spot — plan to eat elsewhere. Big TVs show football and F1 on both floors, and the staff are chatty and genuinely welcoming; one visitor calls it "real pub with real prices". No thumping music, so conversation is easy. Two honest snags: the toilets are down a steep staircase, and match days get busy and loud.
