Cafés · Derby
Pull in off the road here and you'll find a proper layby café that's had a fresh makeover — cheerful, busy, and priced so a family breakfast doesn't sting. The breakfasts do the heavy lifting: the Big Daddy is enormous, everything's cooked fresh to order, and the coffee is filtered rather than stewed. Burgers get real praise too ("rich beef flavour, perfect ratio of cheese"), and the munchboxes are more food than most people can finish. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, and games left out on the tables, which buys you a surprising amount of peace. Free parking right outside and outdoor seating when it's dry. The honest snag: seating inside is limited because it's nearly always busy, so ring ahead if you're bringing a group. Dogs are welcome, and there's even a breakfast for them.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
