It's a proper gastropub menu that changes a few times a year, with vegan choices, high chairs and a kids' menu, and food that arrives hot and quickly, which matters when someone's hungry and cross. The chicken pie and mash and the British beef burger get particular praise, and desserts are worth staying for. Staff are warm and patient — one visitor arrived with a friend who spoke little English and the menu was translated for them. Worth knowing: it's buzzy in the evenings and Friday nights bring live music, so book if you want the garden.
