Tucked away by the entrance to the animal sanctuary, this small tearoom is a genuinely easy stop with children — free parking outside, buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, and staff who greet you with a smile rather than a sigh. Portions are ample and the presentation is lovely: toasties come with crisps and salad, the coffees are large, and the smoothies get a mention every time. The afternoon tea is worth booking for — one group of eight found nothing was too much trouble and went home with a box of leftover cakes. The jungle-themed decor keeps little ones looking around while you finish your tea. Worth knowing: the outdoor seating is really for sanctuary visitors, so on a sunny day you may still end up inside. Small room, so weekends fill quickly.
