A two-minute walk from Penzance train station, this little café is an easy stop with children in tow — all-day breakfasts, jacket potatoes, toasties and home-made cakes, with as many local ingredients as they can manage. A full English runs about £8, and the milkshakes are enormous, which buys you a good ten minutes of peace. Everything is cooked fresh, so there can be a wait; the corner selling local gifts, chutneys and bookmarks is a useful distraction while you sit. Staff are warm and genuinely helpful, patient with allergy questions and happy to adapt plates. High chairs, a kids' menu, vegan options and a few outdoor tables. It does get crowded at busy times and it's snug rather than roomy, so a large pram may be awkward. The toasties and the chocolate and prune cake are worth the detour.
