The steak pie is the thing people remember: pastry top and bottom, packed full, no ceramic-dish pretending. Fish and chips run it close, and the sticky toffee pudding and haggis on toast get their own devoted following. Portions are generous, so nobody leaves hungry, and food tends to arrive steaming and quick. Staff stay friendly and unhurried even when it's heaving. Two honest caveats: it fills up completely most evenings, so book if you're coming for dinner, and at busy moments the team is visibly stretched. Pints run around £6–7.
