Pub · Brighton
A Brighton institution near the station, this old-fashioned pub is better suited to an early drink with the family than a long lunch — the kitchen no longer serves food, though there are plenty of places to eat within a couple of minutes' walk. It's small inside and gets packed at busy times, so a pram is much easier managed on the benches out front or in the garden area at the back, which is lovely on a summer evening. The staff are genuinely warm and quick at the bar, the loos are clean, and the huge mural outside (including the Banksy) usually keeps children occupied for a good five minutes. Expect Brighton prices, and note there's live music upstairs most nights, so evenings are loud.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
