Sunday roast is the draw here, and it's the kind that quietly wins over a whole table — Cornish beef served slightly pink, leg of pork, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese and a separate tureen of veg so nobody's fighting over the broccoli. The fish and chips and sausage and mash get just as much love, and desserts land on the right side of not-too-sweet. Outside there are plenty of tables with parasols, which makes for an easy lunch when the children need room to wriggle; buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and free parking take the faff out of arriving. Staff stay friendly and quick with drinks orders. Worth knowing: Sundays book up, and on the busiest ones the wait for food can stretch — one family faced an hour — so go early and order promptly.
