Cafés · Filey
Tucked away on a side street a short walk from the seafront, this is a small family-run café where the welcome does a lot of the work — the owners chat, joke and go out of their way to sort you out, which makes a real difference when you arrive with children in tow. It's spotlessly clean, relaxed rather than hushed, and there are high chairs and a kids' menu, though the room is compact so a pram is easier folded by the door. Food is homemade, piping hot and generous: sausage in Yorkshire pudding, steak pie, homemade quiche and bacon sandwiches people go back for, all at gentle prices. Staff will happily tweak a dish for a fussy eater. One parent's hard-to-please eight-year-old pronounced his sausage sandwich "very nice" — high praise indeed.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
