Cafés · Hope Valley
Right by the station in Edale, this is the kind of stop that rescues a family walk. Hearty home cooking, proper coffee, pasties, cakes and ice creams — the cherry bakewell gets particular praise, and portions are generous for the price. There's plenty of seating inside and more at the rear, plus outdoor tables, high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options, and the car park across the road makes buggies straightforward. A book swap and a shelf of board games buy you a quiet twenty minutes while legs recover, and a train times board means you won't miss your connection. Wi-Fi helps where there's no data signal. Worth knowing: there's only one toilet — spotless, with plants in it — so for changing, the public toilets in the car park opposite are your backup. The owners are warm with everyone.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
