Australian-style brunch done properly, and worth the drive if you have small children in tow — there's buggy access, high chairs, outdoor tables and free parking, so the arrival scramble is easier than most places this good. Everything comes out of a wood-fired oven, which is why the garlicky New Forest mushrooms on sourdough and the breakfast ciabbatta with its crunchy hash brown get talked about so much, and the cakes taste as good as they look. Staff know their allergens properly, including a separate fryer for coeliacs, and there's a kids' menu and vegan choices. Two things to know: it isn't cheap (breakfast for two with drinks runs past £50), and weekends get genuinely rammed — one parent waited a long stretch for food on a busy morning. Book ahead and you'll be fine.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
