The Jolly Hog: Pigsty
Central Bristol pork specialist with outdoor seating, easy buggy access, a kids' menu and warm staff; breakfast runs pricey.

Mediterranean · Bristol
Right on Bristol's harbourside, this is the rare tapas spot that works with children in tow — buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu, and outdoor tables where a wriggly toddler is nobody's problem. Those outside seats are first come, first served, and on a sunny Friday the place fills fast, though tables seem to turn quickly. Sharing plates make it easy: bread and oil, olives, padron peppers, chorizo, and the wild mushrooms, with generous portions of hake, sea bass or mussels with sourdough for grown-up appetites. Plenty of veggie and vegan choices too. Staff are warm and relaxed, and the waterside view keeps everyone occupied between courses. One snag — on very busy evenings service can stretch, so book if you're pinned to a nap schedule, and mention any allergies clearly.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
