Set in an old school building just outside Clumber Park, this is a small, bright tearoom with about twenty covers indoors and picnic tables out front, so on a busy weekend it's worth ringing ahead rather than turning up with a hungry toddler. Everything is homemade and the portions are generous — the scones come in for constant praise, and the cheese and onion quiche, sandwich platters with chips and the afternoon tea all land well presented and good value. High chairs, a kids' menu, vegan options and free parking are all here, and the staff are unfailingly patient; nothing seems too much trouble, and they'll happily wrap up leftovers. Two honest snags: the main door is narrow with a small step, which makes buggies a squeeze, and the outdoor benches have seen better days with a little road noise.
