Tucked into an old brick school building in Rufforth, this village shop-and-café combination is an easy stop with children — free parking right there, a garden with tables out front, and a little play area round the back that buys you ten more minutes with your coffee. Worth knowing that most of the interior is given over to the shop, so seating inside is limited when it rains. You order and pay at the counter. The afternoon teas get the loudest praise — homemade soup, proper-sized sandwiches, enormous fruit scones, sausage rolls — and one visitor called it unbelievable value at £16.50 a head. Milkshakes (Biscoff, strawberry) keep younger ones happy. The team stayed unflustered by a walking group ordering twenty-five drinks at once, which tells you plenty about how they'd handle your toddler.
